Access Full Text Life Science and Healthcare Texts Using A New NCBI Bookshelf Homepage

The Bookshelf provides access to more than 770 free (full-text) items including biomedical textbooks, other scientific titles, some genetic resources, such as Gene Review, and NCBI help manuals.

The new homepage includes access to a sortable browsing table.

A user can browse the collection by creating (and interactively modifying) a personalized table of titles after selecting one or more items from one, two, or three columns/facets. It's also possible to browse all titles.

Columns
+ Types of books
+ Subjects
+ Publishers

Users can also filter results by entering specific words and individual columns from a "browse" list that can be sorted.

You can learn more by taking a look at this tutorial about browsing the Bookshelf.

Other tutorials cover search, searching "inside" a book, using limits, and advanced search. Links to all tutorials can be found on this page.
